Coal Heritage Park & Museum is a Tourist attraction located at NH 38 in Coal Queen Town Margherita. Cola Heritage Park & Museum is dedicated by Coal India Ltd in Upper Assam. This heritage museum depicts the history of coal mining in the north east region. It also depicts the procedures of mining along with refinery processes. This museum is nice place to hang out with family and friends. Kids will really enjoy here also very informative place give lot of knowledge about the development of coal Industry in this region.
A Evening at Margherita Coal Museum
On our Tour from Duliajan with my Sister and Brother in law I got a chance to visit the Coal Museum at Margherita. We visited the museum on June 5th, 2023. On our arrival at the Coal Museum at Margherita at first we took our time to see and click pictures at the steam Locomotives of John, Shely and Hasang that are kept at entrance of the Coal Museum at Margherita. The Museum is very well established, clean and good for Photography also find 19th century items too here, including coins, stamps of every country, old telephones, old cameras etc. The Museum has been established for preservation of materials from the over 120 years of the coal mining history in this part of the world. The Margherita- Ledo coal mining story started in the year 1881 when British – owned Assam Railways and Trading Company (ARTC) discovered the black diamond in this part of the country and the actual mining had started in the year 1884. Since then whatever the company used along with various types of presently available tools, camera projectos, vehicles, machines etc have been displayed in the Museum for public viewing. The Museum will also provide materials for research works in geology and mining. It may also be mentioned that the first Director of the Company was Dr. John Berry White who also be pioneered the first Medical School at Dibrugarh that has subsequently been upgraded to the present- day Assam Medical College. I was enjoying my present time at the Museum and Click pictures and stored for future.
